Halloween Art

spider hands
I wanted to do black spiders, Lily insisted on purple
that would be creepy...a purple spider!

Macaroni Skeleton
I drew the outline of a stick man and she was supposed to fill it in with different macaroni...looks like he has been impaled with something and has an abnormally large leg. This might be a masterpiece.
Pumpkin with stem & vine
so simple, yet so much fun!

Trick or Treat! See My Feet!
*this was my absolute favorite of the season so far*
we made these into cards and mailed out to family members...so much fun!

...and kids LOVE painting hands and feet

I am glad Lily has my love of arts & crafts...if not, I'd be doing these all by myself. I'm not sure anyone will think my feet and hands on paper are as adorable as hers.

Singing

I almost forgot that I wanted to share some of our new favorite songs for Fall!

Leaves are Twirling (to the tune of Frere Jacques)
Leaves are Twirling
Leaves are Twirling
All Around, All Around
They are Falling Softly
Very, Very Softly
To the Ground
To the Ground

5 Little Pumpkins
5 little pumpkins sitting on a gate
The first one said, "Oh my, it's getting late!"
The second one said, "There's a chill in the air."
The third one said, "But we don't care."
The fourth one said, "I'm ready for some fun!"
The fifth one said, "Let's run, run, run!"
So wooo went the wind, and out went the lights
And 5 little pumpkins rolled out of sight!

Pumpkin pumpkin on the ground (to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle)
Pumpkin pumpkin on the ground
How'd you get so big and round?
Planted as a seed so small
Now you're a great big ball
Pumpkin pumpkin on the ground
How'd you get so big and round?

Today...Later

It's been quite awhile since I've posted anything on here! I've visited, thought about it and always decided that 'later' was a good time to do it. Today is now 'later'.

I love Fall and the holidays it brings. Some of our Fall fun:
Trick or treating at June, Luke & Fin's Halloween party (Oct 30, 2010)
Lily was a ballerina, June & Fin were Pebbles & Bam Bam and Luke was an owl
This was our first year to carve a pumpkin (last year we just painted!) and although it's not a masterpiece, it looks pretty good! Jack-o-lanterns are so pretty lit up for Halloween! Next year we might attempt an intricate pattern design...or maybe now!
Lily and I went to Sea World with some friends:

We had a good time looking at and feeding the dolphins & otters, watching the Shamu show, picnicing, and just walking around!

This would be a super silly face from Lily at the Elgin Pumpkin Patch (aka Elgin Christmas Tree Farm). I was trying to get a good picture of her wearing her Hello Kitty Pumpkin shirt for my Peabody's page. This was the best I could get. She's still precious, even making a crazy cheese face.

The Little Gym Show Day!

Today was the last day of the Little Gym semester otherwise known as Show Day! It was a GREAT class.....although it didn't start out that way.

We were running slightly late and we walked in during the welcome song. The room was PACKED. Our class usually has about 5 kids. There were 432 today. OK, that's an exaggeration, but there were LOTS of kids plus parents plus siblings plus grandparents plus every other family member.

This was overwhelming to Lily who clung to me instead of interacting. I thought we might as well have skipped today! But, as soon as Miss Sandy announced the time to explore the gym, Lily was off like a rocket.

She was swinging, she walked on the beam, she practiced her forward rolls, she went back to the bars...and she looked absolutely ADORABLE! But, she always is!!
I'm so proud of her!

BTW, Lily loves the Little Gym. We have been going to the mommy & me classes since she was 6 months old and it's amazing to see the progress she & the other kids have made. There are locations in lots of major cities and they offer classes from 4 months up to 12 years. It's lots of fun & we highly recommend the Little Gym! If I were Oprah this would be one of my favorite things.

Just Like Daddy

Nick was chef-ing it up over the weekend and Lily loved his 'tail'...so she had to have one of her own.

And notice her flock of seagulls hairdo. This happens after her ponytail & bow come out.

a new year, a new me...we'll see

a few resolutions

*get organized

..clean up, clean out and keep things organized (yes, i'm also skeptical of this one)

*eat healthier

...5 days in and although we haven't actually eaten more veggies, we have branched out in our culinary experiments. i count this as partially sticking to the resolution

*practice more patience

...more patience with my child, more patience with my husband and more patience with all of the dumb arses out there.

*reduce debt

...nick called me today and did a run down of our total debt, monthly payments and what we need to pay monthly to get out of debt in 1 year. the only thing i could say was 'did you call just to ruin my day or did you need something?' mark one down under my practicing patience category

*stop procrastinating

....yes, i have embroidery to do right now and instead i'm blogging, emailing pics and eating an apple with peanut butter. baby steps.
