Que?

"perro"

I was telling my mom which words Lily can sign, how she is imitating words, etc. and my mom said 'You should teach her Spanish. That way if you still live there when she goes to school, she will understand what other kids are saying.' Great idea, mom, except that's like the blind leading the blind.

I have repeated the few Spanish words I do know when I point things out to Beanie( not impressive). After this conversation with my mom, I decided to make a Spanish list of words I do know:

cat-gato

dog-perro

watermelon-sandia (I figured this one out on my own from the signs of people selling fruit/vegetables on the side of the road! Very proud of myself!!)

baby-bambino/a

girl-nina

boy-nino

water-agua

trash-basura

butterfly-mariposa

fat-gordo/a

pretty-flaca

dad-papa

mom-mama

what-que

and that's all I've got and I'm not even sure they're accurate or spelled right....pretty pathetic considering we've lived here 2 years and I hear Spanish all the time...maybe I will try to learn more while teaching Lily....maybe.
